ESSENTIALS by Freifrau is a new brand of handcrafted design objects with a distinctive presence. Founded by Marc and Niklas Helweg and creatively shaped by art director Hanne Willmann, it brings together craftsmanship, design and a deep appreciation for materials.
The brand brings together artistry, design and the beauty of the unique in glassware, lighting, vases, trays and objects for the home. They give character to a room without demanding attention. Each bears the visible marks of its making and tells a story of material, time, expertise and human connection. ESSENTIALS by Freifrau is not an addition, it is a new chapter.
Handmade Luxury
No two pieces look exactly alike.
That is the strength of ESSENTIALS by Freifrau: the maker’s visible hand, a sense of provenance and the subtle variations that bring an object to life. Every object is made in a small series by European workshops or specialists in their craft, whose skills are passed on rather than simply replicated. Ceramic glazes, mouth-blown glass, wood, light and surfaces: nothing is entirely identical, nothing interchangeable. The smallest variation speaks of the hands that have shaped, inspected, sanded, fired and polished each piece, as well as the decisions made along the way. Here, those differences are deliberately allowed to show.
